Disney+ will increase its prices and prohibit sharing subscriptions.

The streaming service is following in Netflix’s footsteps. The company has announced that it’s going to raise prices on subscriptions, and the subscriptions themselves will now not be allowed to be shared with third parties.

Disney+ said that a subscription to the service only belongs to the person who subscribed to it, as well as people who live in the same house and are tethered to a primary device.

Second parties are now not allowed to use the platform – meaning it’s illegal to share your password with a friend, for example. Such users must either pay for their subscription or become an “additional member” for an additional fee.

Additional profile will cost $6.99 for basic subscriptions and $9.99 for premium subscriptions.

In general, subscriptions will increase by $2 starting October 17, with Disney+ basic (with ads) going up to $9.99 per month and Disney+ premium (without ads) going up to $15.99.
