While Microsoft previously believed that UWP was the future of Windows apps, they now favor the Windows App SDK platform. They have gradually updated most of their apps to use this platform. For instance, Phone Link is also one of the apps that now uses Windows App SDK. However, the Windows App SDK has been criticized for its poor performance.
Some users have reported that Windows App SDK-based apps take longer than usual to launch. To mitigate this issue, Microsoft employs the splash screen (the app logo that appears before the app loads).
