Claude Cowork memory arrives today โCowork now has memory, and itโs the same one you use in chat, leading to less re-explaining and more picking up where you left off,โ Anthropic says. โWhen Cowork runs a task in the cloud, what Claude remembers from your chats is there, and vice versa.โ Anthropic adds that memory for sensitive topics is off by default, but it can be enabled.
Sometimes by design, and at other times due to limitations in Claude's architecture. That's partly changing today, with Anthropic releasing a major update to its memory feature set.
Before, you may have developed ideas for projects over time while chatting with Claude, but when it came time to actually enact the changes, youโd have to start over by telling Cowork all the details. The update makes Claude now feel like one continuous assistant, rather than two separate products under one roof.
โClaude does not store subjects considered sensitive, like health or beliefs, to memory by default, but if those are the topics youโre tired of re-explaining, you can turn them on in Memory settings,โ they explain. Claude now has one memory across chat and Claude Cowork, and you decide what's in it.
