Today Bose unveiled the new Sport Open Earbuds and the Ultra Open Earbuds. Both of these are "designed to create more listening moments across active pursuits and everyday life", the company says. These second-generation Ultra Open Earbuds represent Bose’s new flagship open-ear experience, while the new Sport Open Earbuds are the more affordable (yet still not cheap) option.
The Ultra Open Earbuds have a newly engineered driver that delivers deeper bass and a higher volume than the first-gen model. Snapdragon Sound support is also there, with aptX Adaptive for high-quality audio…. SpeechClarity technology keeps calls clear and natural while Auto Volume adjusts to fluctuations in the environment.

Bose brings Sport Open and Ultra Open Earbuds (2nd Gen) for those averse to the in-ear design. Bose expands its open-ear lineup with two new pairs of clip-on earbuds.
Both new open-ear products go on sale next month. Bose refreshes its Ultra Open Earbuds and adds a new sport model to the lineup.
These include the Bose Sport Open, with sweat resistance and a flexible design, and the Bose Ultra Open, with rich audio in a clip-on design. The Ultra Open also features head tracking and aptX Adaptive for an immersive sound.
The second-generation Ultra Open Earbuds are a direct follow-up to 2024’s earbuds of the same name, which Bose regards as its "flagship open-ear experience," with improvements made to sound, battery life and design. They retain their predecessor’s unique (and according to our reviewer at the time, divisive) cuff-clip silhouette, which might look a bit weird, but the first time around proved to be very comfortable.
Growing concerns about ear infections and noise-isolation pain have fueled the rise of open-ear earbuds. Beyond core audio brands, even phone brands, including Nothing, have hopped on the trend, while bigger ones, such as Samsung, are now exploring the format.
Look closely and you’ll spot the new beveled finish on the metallic caps. A redesigned case now supports wireless charging and can stand upright.
While Bose was among the earliest mainstream players in the category, it is now expanding its open-ear lineup with two new options. Today, Bose is launching two new pairs of earbuds for users who donโt desire in-ear earbuds.
A new driver promises better bass and increased volume than the first-generation earbuds, and the updated Ultra Open Earbuds get Cinema Mode, Bose’s spatial audio experience for your movies, TV shows and video podcasts. Given the open design, don’t expect any noise-canceling features, but you do get a three-band EQ via the Bose app, as well as an automatic volume control setting.
These include the Bose Sport Open Earbuds, featuring a silicone-padded clip-on design that weโre seeing on a range of new earbuds, including Sonyโs LinkBud Clips.
The Ultra Open Earbuds support multipoint connectivity with two devices over Bluetooth 5.4, and on launch day Bose will add support for Google Find Hub and Alexa+ in a firmware update.
