But it still won’t replace your AirTag. Samsung’s SmartTag 3 is smaller, smarter, and iPhone-friendly.
Samsung SmartTag 3 is here with longer range and iPhone support. The tracker is 35% smaller, 33% lighter, lasts up to 550 days normally, and extends directional finding to roughly 200 feet.
Not only can it keep tabs on your furball’s location, it can monitor their motion and sleep too. The Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 3’s special feature is being a pet activity monitor.
New features include Bluetooth 6.0 Channel Sounding and geofenced Place Notifications. Pricing for the tracker starts at $29.99, with US availability expected by early November.
The smart tracker market is a highly competitive one, and Samsung knows that it needs to keep innovating if it wants to maintain its spot as one of the biggest players in the industry. With the new SmartTag 3, the tech giant is doing just that.
Big Tech Samsung The Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 3’s special feature is being a pet activity monitor Not only can it keep tabs on your furball’s location, it can monitor their motion and sleep too. It offers longer range and new cross-platform support, but perhaps its biggest upgrade is that it can also be a lightweight activity monitor for pets.
Samsung just unveiled its latest tracker, and unlike its two predecessors, it finally expands beyond Samsung’s own ecosystem. For starters, iPhone users can now use the SmartTag 3 with the SmartThings app.
Starting at $30 for a single device or $100 for a pack of four, there isn’t a huge change in the Galaxy SmartTag 3’s exterior. It still has an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance and Samsung says it’s about 35 percent more compact and 33 percent lighter than its predecessor, but it’s hard to tell without holding the new one and its predecessor side by side.

Perhaps more importantly, Samsung’s latest tracker has longer range thanks to support for Bluetooth 6.0 Channel Sounding, which allows the SmartTag 3 to provide distance and direction guidance from up to 60 meters (196 feet) away, which the company claims is around three times farther than before.
Then, as you get closer, you can use the tag’s ultra-wideband support to find whatever it’s attached to with even greater precision. On top of that, Samsung added a new Place Notification feature, which allows you to set a geofence around a particular location, enabling the tracker to send an alert when it enters or leaves the area.
This makes the new tag 35% smaller and 33% lighter (than the SmartTag2). You will need one of the new silicone and loop cases if you want to attach the new tag to a set of keys or your backpack.
