ChatGPT adds virtual try-ons for clothes and accessories. ChatGPT just borrowed one of Google Shopping’s best tricks You can now virtually try-on clothes via ChatGPT.

Images are generated with OpenAI’s latest model and you can save clothes you like for later. The concept is identical to a feature Google added to Search in 2025, which similarly lets users upload photos and see themselves in a variety of clothes.

You can also upload clothing links or outfit photos, ask ChatGPT to find similar products, and try those recommendations virtually. OpenAI is also adding Favorites and folders for saved products, while reference photos can be reused for future try-ons or deleted from settings.

ChatGPT gained basic shopping features in April of last year, and although the AI tool’s shopping recommendations haven’t always been completely reliable, with recent reports of it surfacing fake stores and fraudulent storefronts, OpenAI isn’t backing away. It is continuing to build out ChatGPT’s shopping capabilities, with the latest addition borrowing a page directly out of Google Shopping’s specialties.

You can access ChatGPT’s Virtual Try On feature anywhere a product listing for clothing appears in a chat. To create your custom image, you just tap on the piece of clothing, tap "Try on" and then upload a selfie and full-body photo ChatGPT can use.

ChatGPT will now let you virtually try on clothes and see what they look like on you and your body type. This comes soon after the AI giant decided to pivot away from its Instant Checkout feature.

You don’t have to use products ChatGPT surfaces in a chat, either: any screenshot of clothing you upload could theoretically be used to generate a try-on image. Ian Carlos Campbell for OpenAI says the feature uses the new ChatGPT Images 2.5 model it released in September to create the photos.

Alongside virtual try-ons, the company now also offers a way to save products you like to your Library in the app in case you want to revisit them later. The typical caution about what images you upload to ChatGPT still applies, though.
