The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max add two new devices to the lineup, with the latter packing what the Cupertino tech giant claims is "the largest increase in battery life ever on iPhone." Aside from that, though, these two phones aren’t necessarily night and day, with display size being the only main differentiator between them. The 18 Pro Max features a 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR display while the standard 18 Pro measures in at 6.3 inches. Both are powered by the new A20 Pro chip, which Apple says is the "most powerful and efficient iPhone chip" to date, offering improved performance whether you’re playing games or completing elaborate AI tasks, which has clearly been a point of focus across the board.

They also have similar camera capabilities, including 48MP sensors, optical zoom and variable aperture to enable manual controls and enhanced quality in low-light environments. As for the way they look, both are available in the same quartet of colors: Silver, Black, Glacier and the rather sumptuous shade of Burgundy, which is surely a departure from the previous generation’s eye-popping Cosmic Orange finish. The big difference lies in the big battery Apple Aside from screen size, batteries and the $100 price difference, little else separates the two new Pro smartphones.

In a statement shared with today, AT&T said it is "working with Apple" to resolve iPhone 18 Pro Max cellular issues. "Apple released a software update to address an issue that may affect calls, data, texts, and 911 calls on a small number of Apple iPhone 18 Pro Max phones," an AT&T spokesperson said.

"AT&T customers with an iPhone 18 Pro Max should update their phones now to the latest available software. Our top priority is ensuring customers can stay connected when they need it most, and we are working with Apple to make it right." As we reported last week, affected iPhone 18 Pro Max users are unable to connect to the AT&T network for phone calls, text messages, or data either persistently or intermittently, and their devices typically enter SOS mode as a result.

The underlying cause has not been confirmed, and Apple has yet to publicly comment on the matter. Thousands of users have experienced this problem since the iPhone 18 Pro Max launched on September 18, according to discussion threads across the Apple Support Community, Reddit, Forums, and other online platforms.

It is unclear if this is a contributing factor. AT&T said iPhone 18 Pro Max users who have experienced or continue to experience issues can return to an Apple or AT&T store for additional support.

Suffice it to say, these guys know their stuff and did a fine job with the iPhone Duo’s cameras. The iPhone Duo is anything but a camera-focused flagship.

Yesterday, AT&T sent a text message to some customers advising them to update to iOS 27.0.1 immediately, even though that update does not appear to resolve the issues, according to comments shared by affected users. In an alleged internal email shared on Reddit today, AT&T clarified that its guidance about updating to iOS 27.0.1 is meant to help mitigate future impacts, but it is unclear if or how the update actually helps.
