In late September, a rumor claimed Apple would be holding a special event on October 13 to unveil new smart home products, including the mythical HomePad or Home Hub, the HomePod mini 2 speaker, and a new Apple TV 4K box. Today the company has confirmed the event, which has the tagline "Welcome home".

It’s a savvy move on the company’s part to help keep its devices in consumers’ minds instead of revealing a ton of stuff all at once that people may quickly forget about. It seems the company’s chief of Alexa and devices Panos Panay might agree.
The HomePad or Home Hub will have a 6" square display and there will be two versions of the device, one intended to be used on a desk or countertop and the other one intended to be wall-mounted. Its base will have a built-in speaker, and the screen will be held up by a metal arm.
