Popular password management app 1Password today announced 1Password for Agents, a platform that gives AI agents safe access to user credentials for completing tasks. The platform lets AI agents access logins, passwords, and other data without seeing or storing the information. Agents can send a request to sign in to a website or account, and users can approve or deny the request.

1Password says the agent uses an unique digital key to verify its identity, and then the login information is filled directly into the sign-in form. Personal AI agents like Meta Muse, ChatGPT Dots, and Claude Duet often need access to accounts and sensitive user information, and 1Password for Agents offers that access without exposing passwords. 1Password for Agents is rolling out "over the coming days" for Grok Bot and Muse.

Claude Duet, ChatGPT Work and Dots, and Town’s Townie integrations are "coming soon." The new agent access feature is free for Individual and Family accounts on 1Password.com. 1Password is priced starting at $3.99 per month with annual billing. If you’re willing to let AI book or buy things on your behalf, 1Password just made that easier. 1Password will let Muse, Dots and Grok Bot sign in to sites for you without getting your credentials.

News AI 1Password will let Muse, Dots and Grok Bot sign in to sites for you without getting your credentials Access is granted per session, limited to specific, approved items and not carried over. The new 1Password for Agents gives those models access to your logins so they can complete tasks for you, without ever receiving your username, password or vault contents.

1Password is pitching the feature as a way to make your personal AI assistant dreams come true for tasks like booking restaurants, buying gifts and planning vacations. Doing those things usually requires login credentials, but given AI agents’ penchant for going rogue, doing so can be fraught.

That’s why 1Password came up with a login system that ensures the models can’t see them. "An agent should be able to do the job it’s been asked to do without getting permanent access to everything behind the account, and 1Password provides the trust layer that makes this possible across personal agent experiences," said 1Passwords chief product officer, Aashish Tripathi.

To do that, 1Password for Agents lets agents use stored credentials from your 1Password vault without directly sending them to the model. When agents reach a password check in the course of performing actions you requested, they use a special key to verify their identity with 1Password.
