Google's Gemini 4 Carbon promises 'significant leap' in AI coding and cybersecurity

Google’s latest Gemini 4 Carbon AI model has top benchmark scores in areas like cybersecurity and coding. Google’s Gemini 4 Carbon promises ‘significant leap’ in AI coding and cybersecurity. News Google’s Gemini 4 Carbon promises ‘significant leap’ in AI coding and cybersecurity The company’s new frontier model tops Claude Opus 5.5 in several key benchmarks.

"Building on Gemini 4 Argon, which was launched two weeks ago, Carbon illustrates the pace at which we’re pushing the frontier forward," the company wrote in a blog post. The company’s benchmarks show Gemini 4 Carbon hitting the highest AA Index v5.0 score (a general AI benchmark) at 59, just ahead of Claude Opus 5.5 and GPT-6 Astra. Google also claims a near sweep across categories including agentic coding, computer use, knowledge work, science and math, and others.

Google especially highlighted Carbon’s domination in cybersecurity, where it bested other models by fairly wide margins. Google In that category, Google claims that Gemini 4 Carbon excels in finding and prioritizing vulnerabilities, as well as patching them at the root cause. The company said that it also advances frontier model safety and security by reducing shortcuts and loophole exploitation, boosting transparency and honesty (yes, there’s a test for "unsupported claims"), resisting prompt injection, improving collaboration and "following through without overstepping." It’s also twice as likely to generate secure code compared to Argon.

Gemini’s got the answers, and now it’s bringing the evidence too. Gemini in Google Sheets is getting faster, smarter, and easier to trust.

Google Sheets Gemini update brings faster AI and source citations. Gemini can now process up to 3,000 cells per request, with Google claiming up to 55 times faster performance than manual entry for certain tasks.

Google Sheets is also getting compact pivot tables and improved Excel compatibility, with both features available to all users. Google Sheets already handles large amounts of data well, but add Gemini into the mix, and things get a lot more interesting.

You can ask it to organize information, categorize hundreds of entries, or fill out an entire spreadsheet without doing all the tedious work yourself. The problem, however, is knowing whether Geminiโ€™s information is actually correct.

After all, nobody wants to spend more time fact-checking something that was supposed to save you time.
