Nothing Phone (4a), (4a) Pro, (3a), and (3a) Pro are now receiving the stable update to Android 17

Nothing started rolling out the stable version of Nothing OS 5.0 based on Android 17 to the Nothing Phone (3) earlier this month, and now four more devices are joining in. The Nothing Phone (4a), Phone (4a) Pro, Phone (3a), and Phone (3a) Pro are now receiving the update. As usual, the rollout is staggered, so not everyone will get the update at the same time.

To manually check for it, go to Settings > System > System update. Make sure you back up your data first, and don’t be alarmed if your phone uses more power and feels warmer during installation – Nothing says performance returns to… The new features shared by all four handsets include a dedicated Glyph app, a split between Quick Settings and the notification panel, bulk arranging of home screen icons, and a new three-color status bar indicator for sensitive access, location, and AI processing.

There’s also a new Translucent theme for the launcher with a frosted-glass style and subtle accent colors inspired by your wallpaper, two new lock screen clock faces, custom clock face colors, the new Geist typeface, and a refreshed Settings UI. You get new Collector and Away Time widgets, a Glyph Timer widget, an Expanded Dark theme that forces dark mode on most apps that don’t support it natively, adjustable Enhanced HDR brightness, Noto 3D Emoji in Gboard, refined Live Updates in the status bar, and single-tap Bluetooth connection and disconnection in Quick Settings.

November hasn’t even arrived, yet the company is already handing out updates originally reserved for next month. Nothing’s official roadmap initially penciled all four for early November.
