The planet is on the edge of catastrophic warming

UN scientists project that global average temperatures could increase by 2.6 – 3.1°C by 2100. Limiting warming to 1.5°C now appears unattainable, and scientists caution that without large-scale global cooperation, disaster is imminent.

Greenhouse gas emissions grew by 1.3% from the previous year. Even if countries adhere to their reduction plans by 2030, temperatures will likely rise between 2.6 and 2.8°C.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres warns that the world is on a “planetary tightrope,” with the poorest and most vulnerable populations at severe risk due to climate change.
