Researchers found surprisingly little agreement on topics ranging from black holes and dark matter to the long-running effort to reconcile Einstein’s theory of gravity with quantum mechanics. Even the standard model of cosmology, known as ΛCDM (Lambda Cold Dark Matter), failed to win support from a majority of respondents. That result may reflect recent findings from the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI), which suggested that dark energy could change over time.
