While this might make sense from a cost perspective, a closer look at the spec sheet reveals that some of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6’s missing features are already available on the previous generation’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Does this make the chip a downgrade from last year.

Qualcomm is apparently considering an official solution to better support PC game emulation on Android. According to one Chinese YouTuber, the company may be adding proper support for DirectX 12 for its Snapdragon chips.

If this happens, it would make emulating PC games on Android much easier. The YouTuber in question tested the capability on a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 reference device and managed to successfully run Cyberpunk 2077 and Black Myth: Wukong through a translation layer in DirectX 12 mode.
