According to a new report from IDC, Apple’s share of smartphone shipments in China grew during Q3 2026, despite a 4.3% year-over-year decline in iPhone shipments. Here are the details. IDC: Apple gains ground as China’s smartphone shipments plunge 15.4% in Q3 2026.
Apple unveils new HomeView smart display: pre-order today for $299 Chance Miller Oct 13 2026.
The 2026 model is faster and can hear you from afar, but the 2022 box gets Siri AI as well. Apple TV 4K 2022 vs. 2026: What’s new and is it worth the $100 jump.
Apple’s big smart home event is in full swing and among all the new gadgets is the Apple TV 4K (4th gen). We’ll start by ripping off the band-aid – the new model costs double the launch price of the 3rd gen model from 2022 (and that’s if you look at the 128GB model with Ethernet!).
The fourth-gen box Apple announced today is $299, a $100 jump over the cheapest previous-gen model. The sticker price is actually more than twice what the 2022 version cost at the start of the year, before the summer price increase.
There is some good news, at least – the new model is massively more capable than the one it replaces. It is powered by the Apple A19 chipset, the one inside the iPhone 17.
It’s set to be released on November 13 with a faster A19 chip and built-in mics for talking to Siri without the remote. If you’ve already got the 2022 or short-lived 2021 model, there’s some good news: Siri AI, the chattier assistant Apple has built this launch around, is coming to your box in an update.
The performance uplift from the A15 chip inside the 2022 model is massive – the CPU is 50% faster and the GPU is 2x faster. The new Apple TV 4K uses the A19 chipset and supports Siri AI, but the price tag is killer.
And the new remote, the one that’s much harder to lose, supports older devices and is being sold on its own. Apple has swapped out the A15 Bionic chip from the 2022 model and replaced it with the A19, claiming that it’s up to 50 percent faster at CPU tasks and twice as fast at graphics.

More importantly, the chipset has a built-in AV1 decoder, which is crucial for modern streaming services (H.265 is mired with patent issues).
Likely because of the price, Apple dropped the 64GB model, so you get 128GB storage and gigabit Ethernet as standard. Besides streaming, the new Apple TV 4K can play games from the Apple Arcade.
