After years of anticipation, the company should actually unveil a MacBook Pro with a touchscreen today. This would mark the third day of news releases in a row for Apple, and the umpteenth product launch this fall. This week alone, we’ve already seen the iPad mini with OLED screen, 14-inch MacBook Pro and the iMac with M6 chips — two things we expected to see at the "Pro and Tell" event today.

I suspect we’ll still get to check them out at the Los Angeles launch, but the star of the show is quite likely to be the purported MacBook Ultra. I’m not convinced that will be the product’s real name, given we thought the iPhone Duo was going to be called the iPhone Ultra right until the morning of the device’s launch in September. Regardless, given there is probably going to be just one product to unveil this afternoon, the presentation should not take too long.

Apple’s upcoming touchscreen MacBook Pro will feature hinge improvements related to changes planned for future iPhone Duo models, according to a last-minute claim ahead of its expected announcement later today. In a new Weibo post, the leaker known as " Fixed Focus Digital " said that one of the new ‌MacBook Pro‌’s key upgrades is its hinge design.

The improved design is apparently related to plans for the second- and third-generation ‌iPhone Duo‌. The MacBook hinge claim aligns with Bloomberg ‘s Mark Gurman ‘s reporting that Apple has redesigned the mechanism to keep the display steady during touch input, alongside cooling changes that improve airflow through the hinge area.

Gurman has separately said that Apple is considering a larger inner display for a future ‌iPhone Duo‌, potentially measuring around 7.9 to 8.1 inches compared to the current model’s 7.6 inches. It is unclear whether the hinge changes mentioned by Fixed Focus Digital relate to that potential redesign.

The leaker also reiterated that the new ‌MacBook Pro‌ will use a dual-layer OLED display and carry a substantial price increase. Gurman separately reported that Apple has discussed a $2,899 starting price for the 14-inch model with an M5 Pro chip, up from $2,499 for the existing equivalent.

Apple should announce the redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch ‌MacBook Pro‌ models later today, alongside its "Pro and tell" media experience in Los Angeles at 10 a.m. Related Roundups: iPhone Duo, MacBook Pro Tag: Fixed Focus Digital Buyer’s Guide: iPhone Duo (Buy Now), MacBook Pro (Coming Soon) Related Forums: iPhone, MacBook Pro This article, " Touchscreen MacBook Pro’s New Hinge Linked to iPhone Duo 2 " first appeared on com Discuss this article in our forums.
